It's delicious in soups and makes local cooking possible even during the cold season. The plant is extremely vigorous and hardy, and thrives in all climates.
The flesh is light-colored and tender. Celeriac is harvested at the end of October and stores easily until spring. The plant grows to around 40 cm in height and is native to the Mediterranean basin.
The seeds should not be covered, as they need light to germinate.
Growing instructions
Sow at warm locations in planters in March. In April, prick out plants at a distance of 5x5cm. From 20th of May plant outdoor, plant distance 40x30cm. Celery grows best in old, well-kept garden soil. Only use well-rotten compost.
